Lupe Fiasco promotes new album with QR laser show
Lupe Fiasco has taken new media music promotions up a notch with the launch of his new album Lasers. It is available for free download on his website once you scan a QR code on the site with the RedLaser smartphone app. Lasers was completed back in 2009 but Fiasco’s label, Atlantic Records, held off releasing it for over two years. The album is officially released on March 4th.
The album was launched in the centre of San Francisco with a massive laser show which revealed a QR code which allowed fans to scan it with the Redlaser technology in order to preorder the album. It is an indicative piece of publicity which certainly places more interactive emphasis on social media and music fans as well as engagingly connects online and offline.
